Dear MAGA: On Jesus

MAGA friends and family:

I want you to try to imagine the Jesus you know. Do you see Him donning the camouflage, boots, mask and firearm of an ICE agent? Do you see Him deliberately popping off rounds into peaceful protestors, including clergy, children and people in inflatable costumes? Would He drag people out of their legal immigration court proceedings, separating mothers and fathers from their children?

Would He support tax breaks for the uber-wealthy, while stripping EVERY social program for the marginalized and oppressed? You know, the man that flipped tables in the temple because they were mixing business and faith?

I can tell you unequivocally, He wouldn't. He would stand and die with us, just like He died 2 millennia ago. Jesus says, in Matthew 7 (NIV):

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you...Small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them… A BAD TREE CANNOT BEAR GOOD FRUIT.

Jesus tells you to take the DIFFICULT path of loving ALL of your neighbors, regardless of qualifiers. He warns you to watch for charlatans who seek to manipulate the Word for their own financial or political gain.

Reject the Trump propaganda. Jesus does.
