LET'S FLIP TABLES
We contend that with inviolable Rights come Responsibilities -- Our Responsibilities -- which we have ignored for far too long. We reject the status quo. We reject Project 2025, the weaponization of Faith by the Trump Administration, and the protection of powerful elites by Establishment Democrats and Republicans. We reject the tiered justice system that provides Justice for so few and injustice to so many.
In response, we hold ourselves Responsible and Accountable for the Health, Safety and Future of our Neighborhoods by calling for legislative Justice Reform at the Local, State and Federal levels.
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood and a beautiful day to be Neighbors!
**This list is neither comprehensive nor complete. A veritable work in progress if you will. Most items, save the first two are fully negotiable; this is designed to start the conversation, nothing more.**
Good Neighbor Responsibility: Power To The People
In all instances, we filter each situation through our justice lens. We ask ourselves, "What is the power dynamic and how can it be more fair?"
ALL PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE
- Non-negotiable. If one cannot agree to this simple precept, they have no business being a part of our Coalition. We do not tolerate intolerance and will not debate the humanity of any of our fellow Neighbors.
NEIGHBOR "BE YOURSELF" PRIDE
- We are done allowing the GOP to divide us through identity politics. If you are human, we Welcome, Protect and Honor your Humanity, regardless of qualifiers. You are our Neighbor.
WORKER SOLIDARITY
- General Strike NOW
- Pro-Union & Co-op
- Living Wage
- Taxpayer Funded Higher Education
- Taxpayer Funded Health Care
- Tie pay to inflation. If inflation goes up, so must pay.
END CORPORATE WELFARE
- End Citizens United. Corporations are not people and if they were, they would be sociopaths. Immoral business decisions are still immoral and we must hold them accountable.
- Corporations must pay a living wage
- Prioritize prosecuting white collar crime
- Close bankruptcy loopholes that screw over class action lawsuits. We must force them to pay. No more sweetheart deals
- Make shell companies illegal
ENFORCE & EXPAND ANTI-TRUST LAWS
- Break up all major monopolies
- Expand Anti-Trust Laws: put caps on size by market share, change rules to make mergers more difficult or impossible, force competition
CONGRESS
- Fix Congressional wages to 1.5x the median income for their district
- Term limits: 4 for Representatives, 2 for Senators
- Abolish the Electoral College
- Clarify the role of the filibuster, remove if necessary
- Require tax disclosure for all candidates and FULL DIVESTMENT for all duly-elected officials
- Ban lobbyists from talking to anyone in Congress
- Use Town Halls to set up a "jury duty"-like system for lobbyists to take their projects directly to the people in the district. If they want to wine and dine, they'll have to do it for 100+ people.
- Ban money from corporations and PACs, cap donations
- Independent ethics committee overseeing Congress, Judiciary and Executive
- Independent oversight of Congressional spending on travel, expenses, etc. Congresspeople do not control their own expenses. Must get approval. DC accommodations handled by this oversight committee. Every dollar will be accounted for in annual reports for each Congressperson and available online for We the People to see.
- Establish National Voting Weekend for Midterms and Presidential elections. Require employers to give at least one day off during this period so everyone gets the chance to vote.
PRO-SCIENCE
- We trust scientific experts in their respective fields
- We do not trust the pharmaceutical or insurance industries
- Doctors over insurers until the insurers are gone
TAX-FUNDED EDUCATION
- Repeal No Child Left Behind Act
- Remove standardized testing requirements
- Pay teachers more; tie pay to 2x median income in their District
- Pay Administration, especially Superintendents less; tie pay to 3x median income in their District
- National Standards administered by the newly revamped Department of Education
- Teach Complete American History
TAX-FUNDED HEALTH CARE
- Abolish Private Health Care
- Prosecute abusers of DEFEND, DENY, DEPOSE
WOMEN'S/REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS
- Patient care is between the doctor and the patient.
- Women's right to choose, be it professionally, familial or anything in between. We stand with Women!
- Codify Roe v. Wade, the sensible compromise we ALREADY PASSED 50 YEARS AGO!
POLICE REFORM
- End qualified immunity
- Redefine the roles of a beat cop. Addiction counselors, therapists and social workers would make the best beat cops. We must transform police institutions to be OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD, RATHER THAN ABOVE IT.
- Pass laws to require deescalation
- Pass laws to reduce traffic stop escalation; cannot "find" cause if its just a broken taillight. Abuse of these rules results in termination.
- Recruit Good Neighbors to be officers.
- Abuse is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
- Completely roll back privatization of prisons
- List all white supremacist organizations as domestic terrorist organizations and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law
- Hold ICE agents accountable for their illegal actions
DIGITAL RIGHTS
- Opt-out by default
- We own our information; if they want it, they must ask and reimburse us for it.
- Prosecute all abuse of our digital rights
- Found an enforcement arm of the executive branch to protect our rights, digital and otherwise
RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
- Freedom to worship as we choose
- Freedom to love as we choose
- Freedom from religion
- No Strings Attached social programs. Show need, receive aid. We do not tie aid to belief. We do not promote any religion over others.
PRO-SEMITISM/ANTI-ZIONISM
- Palestinians and Jews are both Semites
- We stand with Palestinians
- We support a Two-state solution
