Message to Churches:

Good afternoon from the Good Neighbors' Coalition!

The purpose of this email is two-fold:

1. Give your organization a chance to check out what we're doing over at www.goodneighborscoalition.org and

2. To give you the opportunity to join us.

Briefly, the Good Neighbors' Coalition, inspired by the ministry of Mister Rogers and the philosophy of John Rawls, seeks to align Neighbors of Faith and Neighbors of Science with what we call convergent moralism so as to more directly influence National politics. Think of it as our answer to Turning Point USA. Our foundation has two pillars: 1. the undeniable fact that not one of us knows the circumstances of our birth (ethnicity, religion, sex, gender, neurodivergence, socioeconomic standing, etc.) and 2. the Golden Rule (found in every major religion and understood by most non-believers). Simply put, our job as Stewards of Justice is to balance the natural imbalances that occur precisely because we live in a naturally unequal society. This is our stated goal.

This convergence births the potential for a grassroots, bottom-up socialist approach, the kind of socialism that we see and experience every day, a kind that Jesus would condone. Bake sales, PTAs, soup kitchens, a cup of sugar to a neighbor, help another mow their yard, literally just good neighbors being good neighbors. Now is the time to put theory to practice.

Please reach out to wontyoubemyneighbor@goodneighborscoalition.org if you'd like to schedule a meeting or have any questions about the Good Neighbors' Coalition. We are excited to hear from you!

Howdy Neighbor! It fills my heart to see you stop by!

Before we get into things, I want to give a quick introduction to who I am and why I'm talking to you today. My name is Ronald Foster. I am a father of two, a husband and a worker. Since 47 took office, I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out how to help.

This project, the Good Neighbors' Coalition, is that attempt to help.

So, the problem, as I see it, stems from us. The left is weak. It has acquiesced morality to the right decades ago, and the right has capitalized heavily on this mistake. While we have been content to sit on our laurels, the GOP has been actively making things worse, from the Moral Majority of the Reagan era, to the Tea Party, to the MAGA Movement of today. We have allowed them to weaponize Faith. We are on the precipice of authoritarianism precisely because we haven't done enough to counter their action. We scoff and call them crazy, and then lose to them again and again and again, content in our intellectual superiority and the hope that we'll turn things around the next time we have power. And then never do.

We rely on science and science alone, when we know people are inherently emotional and base decision on feelings instead of facts. When your worldview lacks a moral foundation, even if what you are doing is moral, every step of progress is an uphill battle. You cede the entire mechanism by which most Americans make decisions to the opposition, allowing misinformation to run rampant, fomenting Christian nationalism, eugenics and "Space Laser"-level conspiracy theory.

Its time to take our Agency back! Whether you're an atheist, like me, or a person of faith, the Good Neighbors' Coalition provides an unimpeachable foundation from which to build the movement we so desperately need. We must reclaim Jesus, as he most certainly would be out in the streets with us, protesting the cruelty of this regime. We must also show that science can be caring and is more than just statistics and probabilities. We marry these two ideas together and get what I call convergent moralism. It doesn't matter what path you take, as long as you conclude that all people are people.

Millions of Americans are already doing the work of Good Neighbors. There are hundreds of organizations all seeking to balance the scales of justice. The problem is unity. The right has organizations like Turning Point USA and the Heritage Foundation that have effectively put their boot on the neck of American Democracy. These organizations have been going on offense since their inceptions. What does the left have to counter it? Largely nothing. We are a loose coalition that the established Left has taken advantage of for decades. There is little institutionally to counter the likes of Turning Point.

This is the vacuum the Good Neighbors' Coalition seeks to fill. We can no longer wait for the "long arc of justice" to magically fix everything. We must be stewards of Justice, which means taking responsibility for our failings as Neighbors and working together to change the framing of our political discourse. Turning Point has made it okay to be a literal Nazi again, so if they can so drastically change the political landscape in such a short period of time, so can we.

There is no membership. There are no dues. Just tag us when appropriate to help spread the message. If you are part of an organization that would like to partner with us, please, reach out! Our email is wontyoubemyneighbor@goodneighborscoalition.org. This project is in its nascent stage so we need all the help we can get! GoodNeighborsCoalition.org...come check us out for inspiration and resources.
